We hear O say it about 5,000 times per day. He's fascinated with anything round that slightly resembles a ball. A clump of sand is a ball. An orange or lemon is ball. A rock is a ball. The "b" sound is his favorite sound to make. He becomes very frustrated when I don't understand what he is trying to say.
The girls developed their vocabulary much faster than O. By 15 months they could clearly say 50 words or better. Another difference between boys and girls.
While trying to decipher the various "b" sounds that he makes, it got me thinking about how many basic, child friendly words begin with the letter b.
For example...
His favorite foods for breakfast are blue berries and bananas.
We go to the beach to point out boats.
When I've had a rough day with him I refer to him as a bear, brute, or beast.
We go outside to looks for bunnies, birdies, bugs, and butterflies.
He likes to build with blocks and bounce balloons.
We read books.
While learning to walk he has accumulated many bumps, bangs, and bruises.
His sisters call him their baby brother.
He takes his blankie to bed after his bath.
We go for bike rides in the Burlee, hikes in the backpack, and jogs in the BOB.
His favorite song is about a bumblebee that goes BZZZ.
His Grandma Barb takes him for buggy rides.
In the car we have to buckle his seat.
He tries to play with empty beer bottles while Daddy grills brats and burgers.
I wipe his nose with "boogie wipes" to rid him of all boogers.
He waves bye-bye when someone leaves the room.
We teach him to name his body parts - belly button, his cute, chubby butt, and back.
We tickle his belly and teach him how to shake his booty.
He babbles incessantly. (And it is wonderful to listen to!)
His big sister has Bieber fever!
He used to be brunette, but is now blonde.
Soon we'll teach him how to cheer for Bucky Badger and he already watches the Brewers play baseball.
He loves to blow bubbles.
Is it any wonder my beautiful, blue eyed, bouncing, baby boy gets confused?

Totally adorable family! And I like how clear you make it that we do confuse our kids all the time with our language. We aren't supposed to swear, but I write it now and then and Lucy catches me only to chastise me. She has a point. Life is difficult and funny and full of contradictions- much like O, it sounds.
